A professional who provide services (evaluation, interventions, and planning) to patients/clients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. He/she interacts and practices in collaboration with a variety of professionals, including physicians, nurses, educators, social workers, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. The therapist will also provide appropriate education to patients and or family.
Manages patient care by first completing an evaluation, establishing a treatment plan with objective and measurable goals (outcomes), and provides direct intervention or supervision thereof.
Performs therapeutic procedures (exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, gait, massage, manual therapy, orthotic fitting and training, prosthetic training, dynamic activities, wound care, compression garments).
Utilizes exercise equipment (treadmill, ergometers, leg-press, un-weighting device, fitter, ankle platform system, pulley system).
Performs modalities (moist heat, ice, mechanical traction, electrical stimulation, vaso-pneumatic devices, paraffin, hydrotherapy, fluidotherapy, ultraviolet, iontophoresis, ultrasound,).
Delegate’s tasks and duties as indicated.
Participates in continuing education, departmental meetings, and in-service programs.
Adjusts patient care schedule and prioritizes tasks as indicated.
Performs documentation per policy and procedures (evaluation, progress notes, discharge summary, and multi-disciplinary education and treatment plan forms).
Performs patient and family education regarding interventions, disease/injury, safety, and wellness.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Participates in discharge planning with the multi-disciplinary team.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Follows all regulations for charge determination and billing, completes required documents or system for supply and treatment charges.
Participates in clinical supervision/instruction of students.
Complies with all departmental and facility policy, procedures, and directives (i.e. role delineation and scope of care).
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
BS/MS/DPT DEGREE IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
PREFERRED IN PHYSICAL THERAPY
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
