The Charge Nurse assists the Clinical Manager with the management of the unit including participating in employee evaluations, staffing and scheduling, patient and preceptor assignments, oversight of resource utilization, and initiating and overseeing quality improvement activities. The charge nurse acts as a resource and provides information/education to unit staff. The Charge Nurse is involved in service recovery and promoting customer service to both internal and external customers. The Charge Nurse is a role model and proponent of the professional nurse as exemplified by their presence on the unit, participation in nursing department initiatives and organizational committee meetings. Additionally, the Charge Nurse provides direct patient care in the BMTP.
Certifications: Current RN license in Kentucky. AHA CPR required. OCN required within 2 years of hire. Current ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy card required.
Education: Graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing. BSN required or must maintain twelve hours per year toward the completion of BSN during employment in this position.
Experience: Three years of oncology patient care experience required
