Responsible for providing leadership that integrates evidenced based practice (EBP) and nursing research into clinical and operational processes throughout the organization. Fosters the development of nurses at all levels in utilizing EBP/nursing research findings and conducting nursing research. Oversees the dissemination of knowledge gained through nursing research to internal and external audiences.
Provides leadership and guidance in structuring evidence-based practice and nursing research programs throughout the organization.
Makes recommendations for integrating evidence-based practice and nursing research into clinical and operational processes.
Writes and submits grant proposals, including input regarding selection of theoretical framework, research design, data management and analysis.
Examines and critiques proposed studies or ideas for research investigation to help design and strengthen.
Assists with preparation of documents required by the Institutional Review Board.
Provides input regarding infrastructure and acquisition of appropriate resources are available to support the advancement of evidence-based practices and nursing research in all clinical settings.
Provides leadership, mentoring and guidance to the Nursing Interdisciplinary Research Council.
Designs and participates in providing EBP/nursing research education to clinical nurses that enables the evaluation of best practices for patients and the practice environment.
Provides direct leadership and support to clinical inquiry portions of the Nurse Transition to Practice Program and Nursing Professional Development Program
Promotes and communicates the culture, values, and commitment of UMC/BCC through programs that ensure provision of high quality levels of service excellence.
Maintains a spirit of inquiry utilizing nursing evidenced-based practice findings and research methodologies to improve the care delivered.
Provides oversight of new knowledge, innovations and improvements component, including research
table to support Magnet® documentation.
Maintains an active leadership role in support of UMC/BCC nursing, committees, and research
Oversees the dissemination of knowledge obtained through the organization’s nursing research to
internal and external audiences.
Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred):
Current Kentucky/Compact State Registered Nurse license
Master’s Degree in Nursing, Administration, Education or other Leadership field: Required.
Doctorate in Nursing required within 12 months of hire.
AHA BLS required
National Nursing Certification in Field of Specialty completed within 1 year of hire date
Requires experience with clinical practice in an acute care environment, preferable in an academic medical setting.
Experience (required and preferred): 7 years experience as an RN and 5 years leadership or research experience.
