The Scheduler/PT Tech provides a quality service to the patient, the physician, his/her co-workers, and to all departments. He/she works under the direction of a Physical Therapist and or Assistant to aide in the provision of patient care and are involved with patient preparation, components of certain interventions, and post treatment procedures. He/she schedules all services offered by that department, and performs clerical duties of the unit under the direction of the chief physical therapist.
Schedules all procedures offered by the department and assist in ordering departmental patient care supplies
Administers routine modalities (ultrasound, moist heat, ice.). Administers components of interventions (therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, gait training, hydrotherapy, fluidotherapy).
Knows procedures, times preparations, locations and any special instructions.
Uses and operates copy machine, pneumatic tube, and hospital approved computer system.
Understands conflict scheduling, and takes steps to avoid scheduling errors and reschedules errors that occur.
Assists physician/secretary/office, acts as receptionist, checks patient into system, completes final registration.
Is a super user of the hospital wide scheduling system and performs routine maintenance plus any updates for department.
Operates phone system and projects a clear and precise phone voice and is well understood.
Provides required scheduling information to the physicians= offices and patients.
Maintains and cleans supplies and equipment necessary to perform daily functions.
Maintains an orderly filing system. Organizes the work area for efficient and maximum productivity.
Assembles patient medical records and maintains proper order of records within the chart holder.
Ensures scheduling protocols are up to date and followed by scheduling staff.
Initiates orders for repairs and routes non-functioning equipment for repair.
Receives and guides patients and visitors for the department. Responds to intercom pages, routes mail and messages to appropriate person.
Performs setup for exercise equipment (leg presses, ergometers, treadmill, mechanical traction) Assess Vital Signs
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
High School graduate or equivalent.
One year experience in a hospital scheduling position, previous clerical experience preferred. Medical terminology desired.
Experience as Physical Therapy Tech preferred but training provided.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION:
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR required
