The Transporter will provide safe, reliable, and courteous transportation of patients throughout the medical complex. The employee will be trained and must demonstrate competency in moving of patients, including neonatal, pediatric (birth - 11 years), adolescents (12 - 17 years), adults (18 - 65 years), and geriatric (66 years and older).
The Transporter is knowledgeable of department/hospital policies and procedures. Accepts responsibility for own professional growth and continuing education. Must display positive attitude and maintain good working relationship with all internal and external customers.
IST THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED BY THIS POSITION
Transports patients throughout medical complex via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed.
Limited clerical duties - answering phones/voice mail, documentation on office log, runslips, and various sign-out logs, and reports as needed.
Proper handling of medical equipment including: IV pumps/poles, Oxygen tanks, PCA pumps, Chest tubes, Catheters, Traction.
Practices universal precautions and infections control technique.
Presents a professional, congenial attitude to all internal and external customers.
Follows hospital and department specific dress codes.
Assumes responsibility for knowing hospital and department specific polices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in a medical setting preferred
