JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Access Representative III is responsible for communicating with patients and physicians in a timely and professional manner both verbally and electronically. As a first point of contact for all VIP patients and providers, handling urgent referrals, as well as all web appointment requests, the representative will create a positive impression for UofL Physicians while scheduling patient appointments according to clinic operating standards.

The Surgical Services Department at UofL Hospital consists of the following two areas: Main Hospital and Outpatient Surgery Center. Surgical Services is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year to ensure all surgeries, including trauma/emergencies, are completed and the community’s health needs are met. Our service lines include Robotics, General, Colorectal, Urology, Cancer, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics, and Oral Maxillofacial. In total, we have 17 operating rooms with 2 Robotic rooms and 1 Trauma OR. Our staff take pride in offering excellent care to our patients, as well as their families.

The Mental Health Tech (MHT) participates in the delivery of patient care to the psychiatric patient in crisis, under the supervision of an RN. The MHT will assist in providing, monitoring, and maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment. Other responsibilities include specimen collection, activities of daily living, behavioral management, crisis intervention, and implementation of patient treatment in accordance with physician orders, RN directives, hospital and unit specific policies and procedures, and defined standards of patient care and clinical practice. The MHT provides clinical patient care support in a caring, safe, and efficient manner, under the direction of an RN. In collaboration with patients and families (as defined by the patient) the MHT is responsible for the care of the patient.

Job Summary
The Inpatient Certified Pharmacy Technician provides daily supportive services for the Department of Pharmacy according to hospital policies and procedures and in compliance with Kentucky pharmacy laws and other regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- Assists with filling, processing, and dispensing of medications by labeling medication, including bulk supplies, with proper ancillary labeling and bagging procedures, with final check performed by a pharmacist
- Answers phones according to established phone etiquette and triages calls to the proper personnel
- Charges and/or credits patients for medications used via the computer system
- Accurately and efficiently unit doses medications, including cleaning the compounding area, restocking and replacing supplies, documenting in the compounding record, and ensuring doses are correctly labeled and prepared for pharmacist verification
- Prepares medications for loading into the ADC and unloads medications from the ADC utilizing bar code scanning
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- PTCB national certification or NHA
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of pharmacy Technician experience

Job Summary
The Lab Assistant II in Microbiology shall: have a sound knowledge of processing and planting all types of Microbiology and Serology/ Immunology specimens with attention to detail and accuracy; maintain testing equipment in Microbiology and perform basic troubleshooting and quality control under the supervision of a Technologist; enter results into the Laboratory Information System under the supervision of a Technologist; interact courteously and professionally with all customers; respect patient’s rights; actively support the policies of the Laboratory and hospital.
Responsibilities
- Performs specimen processing in the department both manually and with the automated Microbiology system.
- Accurately reports patient results in the Laboratory Information System.
- Performs records and analyzes Quality Control as designated by the department Supervisor.
- Maintains and performs basic troubleshooting on instrumentation in the department.
- Makes suggestions for improvements of policies and procedures in compliance with NCCLS guidelines.
- Teaches correct protocols to students and new hospital or laboratory employees.
- Participates in continuing education programs for the upgrade of educational experience.
- Performs computer and clerical duties; filing, entering reports, assisting with audit trails and ordering tests as necessary.
- Controls inventory ordering and supplies to maintain adequate stock.
- Develops and assists in writing policies, procedures and training documents for specimen processing.
- Follow standards of safety dictated by the laboratory, the hospital and regulatory agencies.
- Follows all compliance and medical necessity policies.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of the laboratory.
- Performs other duties as assigned by laboratory leadership.
